Born 1862 in Riga, 1945 missing in the post-war confusion. Fine Arts studies in Riga and St. Petersburg. Lecturing tutor at the Academy of Arts and Polytechnicum in Riga. 1915-1918 fled to Moscow with his family. 1919 moved from Riga to Berlin. Worked as freelance artist and illustrator in Riga, Berlin and Gollnow (Pomerania). Married to Eva-Margarete Schweinfurth; two sons, Nils and Bernhard Wilhelm.

Art nouveau and Impressionism. The experimenting rebel, who wanted to dethrone the old fashioned classicism of its time, was well educated and very Professional in the use of highly sophisticated art techniques. Eye-catching in his work is the overwhelming fantasy and deep knowledge of human nature that he uses to bring his themes to life.
